The Orion Cooker
Dear Reader,
Outdoor cooking is a timeless adventure. This is to share my outdoor cooking activities — past, present and future. I will also connect you to resources I have found useful over the years and post information about the Cookouts Orion* is sponsoring this spring and summer as it becomes available.
I initially put this blog together to make posting recipes, pictures and video to the Orion Outdoor Cooker Community pages easy. I plan to also post my experience from other outdoor contraptions, as well. And after a cook, there are the many things to do with leftovers that I’ll post, too.
Who knows what else I may share, but in any case, I hope to inspire your next outdoor event.
I began cooking outdoors in the 70′s during camping trips with my family and as a Boy Scout. I entered serious BBQ territory in 1980 when I built a smoker out of a 55 gallon drum for my high school graduation party. I worked in BBQ and fine restaurants to pay for college — earning a degree in hotel & restaurant management, which I promptly abandoned for a career in high tech marketing and business development.
Now, I cook for fun. And I do as much of it as I can with my current lineup:
- Orion Outdoor Cooker
- Char-Broil “Red”
- Webber Q*
- Magma Marine Grill (The floating grill… more this summer)
The photo to the right, by the way, is me in my natural habitat — albeit several years and pounds ago – grilling at a park on Greenwood Lake one spring afternoon. What a country!
I hope you find this blog helpful and informative… it is intended to expand your outdoor cooking horizons… I welcome your comments
and hope to learn from you, as well.
Thanks,
Keithrey
